The Mallala Museum held an exhibition of wedding gowns from their collection during History Month May 2018. The event called "Down the Aisle - Wedding dresses through the years" featured 19 gowns displayed throughout the museum.
Jean Freebairn married Lance Davies in the Alma Congregational Church South Australia on April 7th 1945. Her elegant slim fitting gown was made of cream coloured silk crepe. The bodice featured a V neckline with gathers across the bust and a lace edging that also featured on the low waist line. The skirt was slightly gathered and a row of covered buttons at the centre back added interest. The slightly gathered sleeves were darted into a tighter fit above the elbow. The gown did not feature a train but the full length lace veil fell gracefully into a train.
