I am the son of Clarence Smith, He was a teacher at Reeves Plains School in the mid 1930's. I naturally attended the Reeves Plains School until my father was posted to the Gilbert Street Woodwork Centre under Mr Archie Peake. While Dad worked at Gilbert Street I attended East Adelaide School where my class teacher was a Miss Colbatch. Later, by coincidence East Adelaide Woodwork Centre was my Father's first posting after his lengthy training period and then a teaching stint under Mr Peake.
I remember many families from the area and remember some of the children that attended the school in my time e.g. [Excuse spelling of names] Ivan Haymes. Kath and Joe Edwards, Glen Day, Ruth Agnew, Normie Miegel, Lindon Richter and the Warden brothers. Howard Neale or Kneale had the farm directly south of the school. Most of the mentioned people are possibly deceased. I am 83 myself. This subject comes up now because I intend to visit the school today with my youngest son Michael aged 49.
It could be a full day trip as I live at Goolwa
