This parcel of land on the corner of Adelaide Road and Railway Terrace has had a variety of business uses over the years. In 1896 Mr Richard Bridgeman purchased the premises and conducted a boot and saddlery repair business on the premises.
He sold to Mr William John Taylor in 1926. Mr Taylor was a bootmaker who continued selling and repairing similar goods until 1953.
At this time Returned Serviceman Mr Les Jury and his wife Ronda took over the shop, and it became a haberdashery, drapery and clothing store until 1966. Les sold newly released colour cameras in the shop, was interested in photography and recorded many local events during this period.
He sold to Mr Giovambattista Fragonelli from Virginia in 1965 and the building was used as a greengrocer's shop. Sadly a fire destroyed the building only a year after purchase.
The District Council of Mallala acquired the site and in 1975 a new building was constructed to accommodate the Mallala Ambulance Service and this building continues to be used for that purpose in this year of 2014.
