At the corner of Dublin Rd and Railway Terrace a weighbridge was installed in November 1934 and used by farmers to determine the weight of their loads.
The weighbridge was owned and managed by the Council. In February 1935 a weighbridge office was built near the corner by C.T. Earl.
In the mid 1950’s council personnel operated the bridge during harvest and for the remainder of the year the job was contracted out to private operators.
At a later date the weighbridge was relocated to the end of Railway Tce adjacent to gates that lead to the railway lines.
A weighbridge, which was more adequately able to service the community, was built at the silos by Cooperative Bulk Handling. This led to the eventual removal of the weighbridge adjacent to the railway yard gates.
