Land was purchased from Mr. A.G. Pratt and a Recreational Park was established comprising 8 acres. It was officially opened on the 19th September 1936 by the   cricketer Clarry Grimmett who represented South Australia and also Australia in the test series. A badge with Clarry Grimmett's image on it was sold to raise finance.

A football oval, cricket pitch and tennis courts were established at the park.

The park was sold in 1961 and the proceeds of the sale were given to the Mallala Community Hospital.
