Date of arrival c. 1911

Arthur Weatherill came from the branch of the Weatherill family living in Canada and was the nephew of Mallala's Primitive Methodist Minister, the Reverend Thomas Weatherill. The Reverend's daughter Mabel met her cousin when visiting the extended family in Canada and she and Arthur were married in New York. They came to South Australia to live in 1911 and lived in Cleveland House, Mallala.

Arthur was nicknamed “Marker” because of his billiard room businesses, but he also worked at various times for East Bros, Curnows Garage and later as an agent for East Bros.

When the second story of Cleveland house was demolished, the stone was used to build Arthur's new home at 9 Balaklava Rd. Mallala.
